    Stained Glass for Beginners

    Event description

    Learn the basics of cutting, shaping and fastening glass and mosaics. Make your own small project in class and use it to inspire others.

    Key points

    • Learn about the tools and how to use them safely.
    • Create your own small project. Use one of our templates or bring your own idea.
    • No prior experience necessary. This is a class for those who haven't worked with glass and want to try it out before investing.
    • Or, join and use our equipment - save yourself the expense and co-create with other Makers. You'll also have access to laser, CNC, 3D, sewing and quilting machines, the pros who use them...and Free Classes!

    Prerequisites

    Willingness to learn from a fellow Maker and have fun doing it.

    Ages: 10 and up; up to 1 child per registration.

    Adult required to be with children during the event.

    Supplied Materials

    GJmakerspace has some templates for ornaments, window hangings and small signs and glass and fastening materials. 

    Discounts available at local merchants with GJmakerspace membership.

    Grand Junction Arduino User Group


    Event description

    GJmakerspace is starting an Arduino User Group! The Arduino is a low cost micro-controller used to control stuff, learn programming and enhance your DIY projects. This user group will be an open forum for interested people to meet and talk about this amazing $5 device.

    • Bring your Arduino or Arduino-based project with you... or don't! GJmakerspace has several on hand.
    • No prior experience necessary. This isn't a basics class, but we'll be happy to show you some basics.

    Prerequisites

    “Basic computer skills” are necessary! If you can use a Mac, Windows PC, Raspberry Pi, Linux machine, XBox or Playstation you should be fine! If you can't use any computer, this event is probably not for you.

    Ages: 7 and up; up to 1 child per registration. 
    *
    Adult required to be with children during the event.

    Supplied Materials

    GJmakerspace has several Arduino boards available to try out.

    Event description

    Learn all of the basic tools and functions, good design practices, and tricks for designing projects on the Laser cutter.

    Key points

    • Ins and out of importing and exporting images
    • Precision manipulation and alignment of shapes
    • How to make text follow a path
    • How to work with those pesky pixel images
